DPW to Host Public Information Meeting regarding Portland Street Sidewalk Extension Project

The City of Rochester is partnering with NHDOT to extend the sidewalks on Portland Street. This project will be funded at 80% from a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant.   This sidewalk extension begins near Chamberlain Street where existing sidewalk ends and will go toward Salmon Falls Road.  This project will provide a contiguous sidewalk from the Rochester Downtown to East Rochester.

The public is invited to an informational meeting at the Rochester City Hall, located at 31 Wakefield Street, on Thursday , May 23, 2024 at 6:00 pm. The purpose of this meeting is for the design team to share information about the existing conditions in this area,  to relay information on the planned project schedule, and for residents and business owners to share their observations and concerns to help guide the direction of the engineering before the |
development of the improvement concept begins.

In addition, the meeting is an opportunity for the public to voice their comments and concerns. The City’s Engineering consultant will be present to provide an overview of the project and will have graphical maps of the project area. Comments and concerns will be recorded and will inform project design.

For those who cannot attend in person, the meeting will be broadcast live on Breezeline channel 26 and Comcast channel 22, live streamed at the City website www.rochesternh.gov. This meeting will also be recorded and available on demand at www.rochesternh.gov for future viewing.
