Rochester Fire Department Closed For Non-Emergency Walk-in Services Until Further Notice

Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in Strafford County and the City of Rochester, the Rochester Fire Department will remain closed to the public for all non-emergency walk-in services until further notice.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Strafford County and the City of Rochester,” said Adam Hughes, Deputy Chief. “We are closing the department to the public to keep our first responders safe.”

“The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus,” Hughes continued. “We encourage Rochester residents to follow CDC guidelines and stay vigilant.”

Rochester City Manager Blaine Cox released a statement concurrently, urging residents and other members of the community to be on alert and to “not become complacent.”

“Pandemic fatigue is manifesting itself in residents and visitors being less apt to follow the CDC guidelines, i.e. less diligent in wearing masks when moving from various locations, less social distancing, perhaps less hand washing, sanitizing, etc.,” said Cox. “We must continue to collectively follow the strict guidelines put forth by the CDC.”
