Veteran Tax Credits and Exemptions
Veterans Tax Credit ($400 Off Annually)
To qualify for a veteran's tax credit, veterans must have served at least 90 days of active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and been honorably discharged. They must also own and live in the property as their main home, & must live in New Hampshire for 1 year prior to April 1. Surviving spouses of veterans may also be eligible. Proof of service, like a DD-214 form, is needed when applying. Applications must be submitted to the Rochester Assessing Office by April 15th to be considered for the next tax year.

Total & Permanent Service-Connected Disability ($2,400 Off Annually)
To qualify for the Disabled Veteran Tax Credit, veterans must have a total & permanent, service-related disability confirmed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The veteran must own and live in the property as their main home. Surviving spouses of eligible veterans may also qualify. Applicants must provide proof of disability and residency. Applications are due at the Rochester Assessing Office by April 15th for the next tax year.

Certain Disabled Veterans Exemption
To be eligible, a veteran must have a service-related disability certified by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The property must be their primary residence, and they need to provide proof of disability and residency. The exemption application, Form DP-36, should be submitted to the local assessing office by April 15th to apply for the next tax year.
