Renew Your Vehicle Registration Online

This is for renewals only. If you need new registration, new plates or a transfer, you will still need to go into the Tax Collector's office.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCESSING YOUR RENEWAL!

1. Do not renew if your address is different than what is listed on your current registration. Even if you have changed your address with the Post Office, your registration does NOT get forwarded.

2. Do not renew if your registration is already expired or you need your registration immediately. Your vehicle is NOT considered registered until you have received your registration, signed it and the decals are on your plates.

3. If the registration is lost in the mail, the City of Rochester cannot replace the registration for free. We have to charge $31 to replace. You may go to a DMV location to have the registration replaced at no cost after 14 days.

4. All echeck payments that are returned for any reason will be charged a $25 returned check fee so please enter your account information carefully.

The turn around time in our office for the e-reg process is approximately 2 business days. However, mail via USPS can take anywhere from 2 days to 3 weeks. You may renew your vehicle up to four months before the expiration date so please plan accordingly.  

Please note that this service accepts electronic checks only.  Anyone with a regular checkbook or checking account can use this system as an electronic check.  Credit or debit cards are accepted with a 2.99% convenience fee. Please note there is an added cost for this service of $3.00 per registration. All echeck payments that are returned for any reason will be charged a $25 returned check fee.
